Setup
What ClipJet needs, and how to connect each account.
Requirements
| System | Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit |
|---|---|
| Window | WebView2 runtime, already present on Windows 11 |
| Runtime | Python 3.12 or newer, installed once by the setup script |
| Disk | About 150 MB for the app and its libraries; clips stay where they are |
| Accounts | A TikTok account and a Google account you own |
ClipJet is distributed to the account owner rather than through a public installer — see Support if you need a copy.
Installing
- Run the setup script onceIt creates an isolated Python environment next to the app and installs the libraries it needs. Nothing is installed system-wide.
- Start the appA shortcut is placed on the desktop. The app opens in a single window; clicking the shortcut again raises that window instead of starting a second copy.
- Optional: start with WindowsA switch on the Accounts tab adds the app to startup, so scheduled TikTok posts go out even if you never opened it that day.
Connecting TikTok
Posting through the TikTok Content Posting API requires your own developer application, because the keys identify the software that posts, not the person.
- Create an app in the TikTok for Developers portal and add the Login Kit and Content Posting API products.
- Request the scopes
user.info.basic,video.publishandvideo.upload. - Register the desktop redirect address the app listens on:
http://127.0.0.1:8721/callback. - Copy the client key and client secret into the Accounts tab and press Connect. The TikTok consent screen opens in your browser; after approving, the app shows your account name.
Connecting YouTube
- Create a project in Google Cloud Console and enable the YouTube Data API v3.
- Configure the OAuth consent screen and add yourself as a test user.
- Create an OAuth client of type Desktop app and download its JSON file.
- Point the Accounts tab at that file and press Connect.
The default API quota allows roughly six uploads per day per project. A second channel with a heavy schedule needs its own Google Cloud project, or a quota increase.
While a Google project is unverified, its sign-in expires after seven days. Reconnecting takes one click, and the app says plainly when the token is gone instead of failing silently at upload time.
Where your data lives
Everything the app keeps is in a data folder next to the program: your settings,
the posting queue, the local log and the access tokens. Deleting that folder resets the app
completely. Nothing is sent anywhere except to the official APIs of the two platforms.
